All You Need To Know About The 27th TGMA Nominations

TGMA 2026: Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, and Medikal Lead 27th Edition Nominations — Full List Revealed

The 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) has officially kicked off its 2026 season following the grand unveiling of this year’s nominees at the Palms Convention Centre. The list features a high-stakes battle among Ghana’s biggest musical exports, with Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, and Sarkodie leading the charge in the most prestigious categories.

This year’s Artiste of the Year category is arguably one of the most competitive we’ve seen in years. Heavyweights Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Medikal, Wendy Shay, and Diana Hamilton are all in the running for the night’s ultimate prize. Notably, Black Sherif has maintained his momentum from last year, picking up major nods in categories like Songwriter of the Year, Best Music Video (for "Sacrifice"), and Best Hiphop Song.

In the Hiplife/Hiphop categories, Medikal’s hit "Shoulder" featuring Shatta Wale and Beeztrap KOTM has secured a spot for Best Hiplife Song, while the rap game remains fierce with Strongman, Lyrical Joe, and Ko-Jo Cue going up against Sarkodie for Best Rap Performance. The Highlife scene is equally packed, with Kofi Kinaata, King Paluta, Kuami Eugene, and Fameye battling for supremacy in both the Best Highlife Song and Artiste categories.

New talent is also getting a well-deserved spotlight. The Best New Artiste category features promising names like Kojo Blak, AratheJay, Gonaboy, and Lalid, proving that the future of Ghanaian music is in good hands. Meanwhile, the gospel front is led by industry stalwarts like Piesie Esther, Diana Hamilton, and MOG Music, who continue to dominate the airwaves.

The nominations were announced by Charterhouse on Saturday, March 14, 2026, during a day-long event that combined social media reveals with a final televised ceremony. This 27th edition covers works released between January 1 and December 31, 2025. One notable absence this year is Joe Mettle, who is not part of the scheme due to reported scheduling conflicts. The main awards night is scheduled to take place on May 9, 2026.
